Bruges, with no doubt, is the most beautiful city in all of Belgium.
Once a busy port and the center of the textile industry, this medieval city seems to have stopped in time since the trade practically ceased in the 16th century.
As a result, the technological revolution didn’ttouch it, and the city managed to survive in the fire of two World wars
Despite its rather modest size, Bruges is the capital of Western Flanders and it greets thousands of touristsannually. Bruges rightfully called the small Venice: this amazing city is intersected by a multitude of canals and bridges, which makes it so nice for a sightseeing tour. Once you arrive into the town, you’llbe immediately impressed by its architecture: there is a mix of Gothic and Romanesque styles, Baroque, Rococo, Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau.
The Church of the Holy Virgin In bruges, withits 122 meters high spire, is considered to be the tallest brick building in Europe.
Bruges is a romantic city. Be sure to come down to the mysterious Lake of Love with its swans, which are one of the symbols of Bruges.
To the north of the center of Brugesyou’ll find the so-called “Lace Center”, where you can buy magnificent laces from local craftsmen.
In 2000, the center of the city was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
