Urban farms as a concept came from Sweden. That is why a Swedish company took on the responsibility to create the largest urban farm in the very heart of Europe – The Hague.
A spectacular multi-storeybuilding in one of the most beautiful cities of Europe shelters the most unusual farm in the country. Fish is bred on the sixth floor. On the next floor, which is on the roof, you’ll find a large greenhouse with an enormous multitude of vegetables growing inside.
The main principle of this farm’s functioning is: use what Nature gives us to the max. This way the nutrients that are produced during the fish breeding, is used for growing vegetables. And the other way around: some plants are used to filtrate the water in which fish is bred.

Before you get to cooking, you will have a one-hour tour around the most unusual farm of Holland. Naturally, you’ll visit the greenhouse and feel what it’s like to grow vegetables on top of a 34 meters-high building in the middle of a big city!
